#  More campaign finance laws and penalties will clean up politics?

 

Too many pundits and politicians insist that more campaign finance laws and penalties will clean up politics and inspire broader participation. But the efforts by established interests to punish the Coal Country Conservatives PAC for their successful grassroots effort in Campbell County shows that campaign finance law can be the dirtiest political tool. With some agitation at having to state the obvious, Steve Klein testified against the effort before the Corporations and Elections Committee on October 14.
